Kim began her journey with helping others when she studied psychology, with a focus on child and family psychology, as an undergraduate at Rutgers University. While at Rutgers, she also participated in extensive research studying depression and anxiety among teenagers and young adults. In an independent research project of her own, Kim studied the effects of technology and mental fatigue on young adults. She earned her Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Mental Health Counseling at Monmouth University in New Jersey, specializing in child, adolescent and family therapy.
 

Kim has several years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and depression, among other difficulties. She also has experience working with children in play therapy, teenagers and their families, couples, and young adults. Kim pulls from many different therapeutic techniques, such as meditation and breath-work, to help clients feel connected and to gain awareness.

She holds two licenses, in which, she is able to practice mental health in both New Jersey and Hawai’i. In Hawaii she holds a Masters of Science (M.S.) and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).  In New Jersey she holds a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC.) She is also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC.)
