Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling
LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor)
CSAC (Certified Substance Abuse Counselor)
Aloha! I am currently concluding my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in Substance Abuse Counseling from Walden University. I am thrilled to be joining the Bodhi Wellness team as a Counseling Intern working under the supervision of both Dave and Kim Dolan.
I specialize in treating both mental health and substance abuse issues and have developed a holistic and client-centered approach to treatment that is based in mindfulness, spiritual practice, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and trauma-informed care. Having struggled with anxiety, depression, and substance abuse issues throughout adolescence and early adulthood, I know both the despair and isolation that we can reach in our darkest moments, as well as the profound sense of joy and purpose that can be found through healing and recovery. My journey has led me to experiment with many different approaches to therapy and self-care, as well as rediscover spiritual practice in a way that feels deeply personal, and draws from a variety of faiths and spiritual traditions. While my approach to treatment is certainly informed by my own experiences, I firmly believe that each human being is on an individual healing journey toward finding their purpose and place in the world. As such, I strive to create a collaborative counseling environment that is tailored to each client, in which we can explore a wide variety of treatment options and practices that you feel are best suited to meeting your needs and goals.
My journey with mental health and substance abuse issues during my adolescent years has also placed me in a unique position to specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who are experiencing similar struggles. Having experienced firsthand the challenges of trying to find a counselor that felt even remotely relatable at that age, I know how transformative it can be once you finally find a counselor that you feel you can connect with.
I also have experience working with clients of a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, and mental health issues. Whether you are struggling with depression, grief, a substance abuse issue, or a recent life transition, I have found that the journey towards healing is more often than not a journey of rediscovering ourselves and how we bring meaning, connection, and purpose into our lives. My role as a mental health counselor is not to “fix” you or prescribe any particular treatment, but rather to walk with you and help you determine for yourself what the next steps in your life’s journey look like. If any of this resonates with you and you are looking for a counselor to help you explore your authentic pathway to healing, then I may be a good fit. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email with any further questions about my approach to counseling and to see if you feel that we would work well together.
